Event Overview

The Dominoes Challenge – Kings & Queens Community Showdown is a lively cultural fundraising event celebrating Caribbean traditions, friendly competition, storytelling, and community connection. Dominoes has long been a social centrepiece within Caribbean households and gatherings, bringing people together through strategy, laughter, conversation, and shared experiences. This event transforms that tradition into a community celebration that bridges generations while raising funds for Rebuild & Reclaim community programmes.

The event will combine competitive domino tournaments with music, food, storytelling, and cultural entertainment, creating an atmosphere that feels welcoming, energetic, and deeply rooted in Caribbean culture.

What to Expect on the Day

Guests will experience an exciting day and evening filled with domino competitions, live music, cultural games, food, and intergenerational activities. Both experienced domino players and beginners will be encouraged to participate, with teaching tables available for younger attendees and first-time players.

Activities Include:

  • Community domino tournament competitions
  • Beginner domino teaching sessions for young people
  • Live reggae, lovers rock, and soca music
  • Caribbean food and drink stalls
  • Elders storytelling and “old-school lime” spaces
  • Prize giveaways and sponsored team challenges
  • Cultural trivia and heritage games
  • Community fundraising raffle and awards ceremony

Who’s Involved

The event will involve community elders, youth groups, local domino clubs, musicians, DJs, food vendors, volunteers, cultural organisations, local businesses, and sponsors. Families and residents from different backgrounds will also be invited to participate and experience Caribbean culture in a fun and engaging environment.

Community ambassadors and youth volunteers will help facilitate activities and encourage positive intergenerational interaction throughout the event.

Why the Event Matters

This event matters because it uses a familiar and much-loved Caribbean tradition to strengthen community relationships, celebrate cultural identity, and bring generations together in a meaningful way. Dominoes is more than a game — it represents connection, wisdom, humour, resilience, and community spirit.

The Dominoes Challenge also creates opportunities for older and younger generations to interact, learn from one another, and preserve cultural traditions that might otherwise be lost over time. Through fundraising and sponsorship support, the event will contribute towards youth development, cultural education, wellbeing programmes, and long-term community restoration initiatives.

“Every domino played tells a story of community, culture, connection, and legacy passed from one generation to the next.”
